Balanced Offense and Pressure Defense Lifts Bison over Yellow Jackets

Bethany, W.Va– The Bethany College men's basketball team finished out the first half of PAC conference play against the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets Wednesday evening. The Bison snapped the Yellow Jackets four game winning streak with a 72-59 victory. The win over the Yellow Jackets snapped a five game losing streak for the Green and White. Bethany had six finish in double-figures, led by senior Aiden Albert with 14 points. Sophomore Khalil Wilson picked up his second double-double on the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

GAME OVERVIEW

Bethany began the game on a 16-5 run to take a double-digit lead over Waynesburg. The Bison defense pestered the Yellow Jackets. The Green and White recorded eight steals in the first half and scored 12 points off of 12 Yellow Jacket turnovers. Bethany led by as many as 17 in the first half. Waynesburg used a 10-0 run to cut Bethany's lead to 28-21, but the Green and White were able to drive in back-to-back layups to build the lead back up before heading into the break. The Bison led 35-25 at halftime.

A Wilson jumper started the Bison off in the second half. Bethany continued to give Waynesburg pressure while maintaining the lead over the Yellow Jackets.  Waynesburg slowly chipped away at the Bethany lead, getting within three with under 12 minutes to go in the half. However, a pair of freebies off of the hands of Trey Shifflett, built the Bison lead back up to five.

The Bison continued to claw their lead back up to double-digits with seven minutes left in the game. The Green and White held a double-digit lead for most of the final minutes of the game, leading by as many as 13 on multiple occasions sealing the win.
