Men's lacrosse places six on All-ORLC teams

GREENWOOD, Ind. (May 9) – The Bethany College men's lacrosse team featured six players on the All-Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) teams announced Tuesday afternoon.

Seniors Jake Holland (Canton, Ohio/Jackson) and Dominic Halstead (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) were joined by junior Shaka Conteh (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams) as Second-Team All-ORLC selections, while senior Cody Bergman (Butler, Pa./Pine-Richland) and sophomores Caleb Staudenbaur (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) and Will Gatling (Baltimore, Md./Northwestern) were named to the honorable mention team. Bergman also garnered a sportsmanship award from the league, which is given to a member of each team.

Holland wrapped up the most decorated Bethany lacrosse career in program history with his third nod to the All-ORLC Second Team. The Canton, Ohio native finished his Bison career as the program leader in goals (84), assists (98) and points (182) all-time. This season, he ranked third in the ORLC with 27 assists and tied for fifth in the league with 47 points. Holland also ranked in a tie for second on the team with 20 goals.

Halstead was tabbed a second-team long-stick defender for the second time in his career. He was third on the team with 15 caused turnovers and 54 ground balls, while starting 12 of the team's 15 games. Offensively, Halstead contributed a pair of goals during his senior campaign.

Conteh earned his first All-ORLC honor after being named a second team short-stick selection. One of the most elusive players in the league, Conteh ranked second on the squad with 16 caused turnovers and fourth with 49 groundballs. He tallied three goals and added five assists to total eight points, while starting 14 games and appearing in all 15 this season.

Bergman, Staudenbaur and Gatling all earned All-ORLC Honorable Mention honors for the Bison. Staudenbaur and Bergman were mainstays on the defensive side, with Bergman leading the team with 23 caused turnovers this season. Gatling was the team's faceoff specialist and tied for second on the team with 20 goals scored.

The Bison recently concluded the season at 3-12 overall.
