Bethany Handed 5-nil Decision by Northern Kentucky

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (BethanyBison.com) - Facing off against a Division I competitor, the Bethany College men's soccer team suffered a 5-nil setback against Northern Kentucky University in a mid-week tilt, Wednesday, Sept. 26.

  • Records: Bethany, 3-6-2 | Northern Kentucky 7-3

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Norse jumped to an early 4-0 lead as they scored most of their goals within the first half. After striking in the fifth minute, NKU tallied an insurance goal at 13:06, before tacking on another pair of goals at the 25th and 26th mark.

  • Coming out of the half, it was relatively quiet until a cross from the left side gave Northern Kentucky it's fifth goal of the night with less than eight minutes left.

MATCH NOTES

  • The Green and White were held to its fewest shots on the campaign as sophomore Tony Cirri (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) was the lone Bison to get one on frame.

  • In his eighth consecutive start in goal this season, sophomore Torben Grether (Rheinfelden, Germany/Georg-Buchner) tied his season-high of seven saves for the third straight match.

UP NEXT

The Bison will continue their road trip this weekend, Saturday, Sept. 29, when they head to Beaver Falls, Pa. to take on Geneva College. Kick off is slated for 1:30 p.m. following the conclusion of the women's game.
