McClinton Named PAC Track AOW

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Presidents Athletic Conference named sprinter Caliyph McClinton as the Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this year and the first time in the outdoor season.

McClinton broke the outdoor Bethany College 200m record and played a key part in the 4x100m relay record. Both were broken last weekend at West Liberty in the same meet.

The sophomore sprinter's individual record came in the 200 meter dash, where he finished third overall with a time of 21.84 seconds. His speed is not just on the Bethany boards. McClinton's time ranks first in the PAC, second in the Mid-Atlantic Region and 10th in the country (Division III).

McClinton continued to burn as apart of the Bison's 4x100 relay team. He joined freshman Shavel Lesley, senior Tsi Fofang, and junior Charbilot Marcelin in running a 41.46 to break a decade old record. Along with being the fastest time at Bethany, their performance ranks first in the conference and first in the Mid-Atlantic Region. The squad received national recognition as the 12th fastest relay team in Division III.

Head Coach Jordan Johnson had high praise for McClinton and his fellow Bison.

"Caliyph has never looked back since the indoor season. He's truly motivated and eager to be the best version of himself– and that drive extends to his teammates as well."

Bethany will travel to Ohio University for an invite this weekend. The following Saturday, Bethanians will be able to watch McClinton and the rest of the Bison in their very own stadium as Bethany College will host the Bison Classic.
