Mahaffey, McClinton Named All-Region
Two Bethany College track and field student-athletes have earned All-Region recognition by the United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization recently announced.
Senior Alexis Mahaffey and sophomore Caliyph McClinton were both named All-Mid Atlantic Region.
"Caliyph and Alexis have delivered standout performances this season. Their ability to perform under pressure has been a key factor in their success. They truly deserve this honor."
It's the fourth all-region honors – two indoor and two outdoor – for Mahaffey. The thrower was Bethany's top field athlete, posting the highest mark in shot put, discuss, and weight throw. Her launch of 50.47 meters in the weight throw established a new school record.
McClinton, who qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 100-meter dash, set school records in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. He claimed a Presidents Athletic Conference championship in the 200 and was the PAC runner-up in the 100.
