Softball Splits with Grove City

Grove City, Pa - The Bethany College softball team took on the Grove City Wolverines in a PAC doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. The Bison and Wolverines split. Grove City took game one on a walk off two-run homerun, 8-7. Bethany bounced back and hung on to take game two, 7-6.  

Game One Overview

Grove City downed Bethany, 8-7   

The Bison scored in the first to take a 1-0 lead off of a Jennifer Oberthur double that scoed Emily Folk. The Wolverines had an answer in the bottom half of the inning. Grove City scored two runs in the first inning and plated three runs in the second to take a 6-1 lead. Bethany battled in the third inning and had four runners cross home plate. Jen Oberthur hit her second double on the day driving in two runs. Tyra Bell later doubled driving in Oberthur. A Gabby Capaldi double plated Bell. Bethany trailed 6-5 going into the sixth inning. The green and white tied the ballgame off of Fran Capaldi taking advantage of an Wolverine error. The Bison would take the lead from a Kayla Dinsmore RBI that scored Paige Allen. Bethany led 7-6 going into the seventh inning. The Wolverines walked off from a two-run homerun taking game one from the Bison.

Game Two Overview
Bethany defeated Grove City, 7-6

The Wolverines jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Bison had five runs cross home plate in the second inning. Kathleen Fuchs scored first for the Bison. Emily Folk singled driving in Paige Allen. Moments later, Kayla Dinsmore singled scoring Emily Folk and Erica Amoroso. A Wolverine error allowed Kayla Dinsmore to cross home plate. Bethany led 5-2 in the second inning. However, the Wolverines had an answer in the bottom half of the inning. Grove City scored two runs to cut the Bethany lead 5-4. The Bison didn't let the two runs bother them, scoring two in the third inning. Kathleen Fuchs scored off a Wolverine error and Emily Folk's squeeze sacrifice bunt allows Paige Allen to score. Grove City's efforts to regain the lead fell short giving Bethany the win in game two.
