Softball Walks Off Game One

BETHANY – The Bison took a detour away from Presidents Athletic Conference play, hosting a doubleheader against Carlow University. Both games played were absolute barnburners. In game one, Bethany executed a walkoff finish. Game two went into extra innings, but went the Celtics' way.

Katelyn Ziems picked up her fifth win of the season in game one. She only had one major mistake giving up a two run home run in the fourth inning. Ziems stayed composed, finishing a complete game.

The Bison offense didn't have an explosive inning, but did just enough to earn the win. Brooke Markland got the Bison started in the first with an RBI single. Bethany posted an unearned run in the third. 

Tied 2-2 going into the bottom of the seventh, Morgan Huey found herself with the bases loaded and one out. All the Bison needed was a fly ball, but the veteran did more than that. She barrelled up a fastball for what would have been extra bases. As the ball rattled up against the bottom of the fence, Trista Morris scored the winning run.

In game two, Bethany was hitless until they entered the fourth inning. Olivia Kidd led off the inning with a double. Markland simply replaced her on second to score the first run of the game. 

Bethany capitalized on an error the next inning to tie the game. Kidd and Markland were the two Bison to pick up an RBI. Kidd hit a sac fly and Markland singled for her third RBI of the day. 

The game remained knotted into extra innings, where the Bison were unable to score the runner on second base. 

Bethany will resume PAC play against Grove City. That doubleheader will be in Grove City, Pennsylvania this Saturday at 1pm.
