Bison Dealt First Loss of the Season to Albion, 66-57

N. Manchester, Ind. (BethanyBison.com) - The Bethany College women's basketball team was handed its first loss of the season by the hands of Albion College, 66-57, Saturday afternoon, Nov. 17, in the final game of the Main View Tip-Tournament. The Bison (3-1) were led by sophomore Allison Kuhn (Lewisville, Oh/Monroe Central) who notched a career high of 17 points. 

Bethany College had two members of the All-Tournament team in the form of Kuhn and fellow sophomore Haylie Glass (Mercer, Pa./Mercer). Glass finished the day with eight points, going 3-5 from the field and hitting 2-3 from beyond the arc. Kuhn and Glass both averaged 13.5 pts throughout the weekend and notched career highs as the Green and White split the weekend, 1-1.

The Bison were helped by the efforts of seniors Sammie Weiss (Taylorstown, Pa/McGuffey) and senior Ashley Duthie (Madison, Oh/Madison). Weiss recorded 13 points and five boards, while Duthie racked up 12 points to go along with her team-high seven rebounds. 

Bethany and Albion battled back and forth through the first quarter before Albion would pull away making their largest lead of 12 pts in the second quarter with 2:37 to go in the half. The Bison would trail at halftime 30-20. In the third quarter the Green and White would pull within two, 36-34, at a media timeout. Bethany out scored Albion, 23-11, in the third to regain the lead, 43-41, going into the fourth quarter. The Britons would slowly pull away in the fourth outscoring the Bison, 25-14, in the final quarter, sealing the 66-57 defeat.

Albion was led by Rain Hinton with 20 pts and Maija Gillum with 14 pts.

The Bison are hitting the road, Tuesday, Nov. 20, when they travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. to face off against Carnegie Mellon. Tipoff is lated for 6 p.m.
