Women's Basketball Falls to Chatham

Pittsburgh, Pa – The Bethany College women's basketball team traveled to Pittsburgh, Pa for a PAC contest against the Chatham Cougars Wednesday evening. The Bison fell to the Cougars, 74-60. The Green and White were led by sophomore Courtney Walker with 14 points.

GAME OVERVIEW

Chatham jumped out to a 5-0 lead but Bethany battled back to cut the lead with jumpers from Allison Kuhn and Kelsie Meintel. The Bison kept battling throughout the first, grinding to keep the lead close. The Green and White trailed 18-10 at the end of the first.

A Courtney Walker three opened up the second stanza, but the Cougars answered with a three of their own. The Bison climbed back to cut the lead 23-17 with six minutes to go off of a pair of Meintel freebies. Back to back jumpers from freshman Alexis Heap cut the Cougar lead going into the break. At the half, the Bison were behind, 31-27.

The Bison scrapped to open the second half, a deep three Allison Kuhn as the shot clock expired knotted the game at 35-35 with just under six minutes to go in the third. However, the Cougars responded with back to back jumpers to build the lead back up to five.

Going into the final quarter, the Bison trailed 44-38. A Haylie Glass three opened the quarter for the Bison. The Green and White continued to scrap to keep the lead close. The Cougars were able to knock in a few shots to maintain a comfortable lead.
