Slow Start Proves Costly For Bison

New Wilmington, Pa – The Bethany College women's basketball team traveled north the New Wilmington, Pa for a PAC contest against the Westminster Titans. The Titans defeated the Bison 59-46. Sophomore Kelsie Meintel led the Green and White with 13 points.

GAME OVERVIEW

Bethany began the game back to back turnovers, while Westminster hit back to back threes to take a 6-0 lead in the opening minutes of the game. The Titans built a commanding lead hitting five shots from behind the arc while Bethany shot a cold 2-10 from the field in the first stanza.

The second quarter the tables turned for the Bison, climbing back within six holding the Titans to just 11 points in the second stanza. The Green and White shot 40.0% and went 7-7 from the charity stripe to climb back into the game.

The second half opened up with turnovers for both teams. The Bison scored first with a Kelsie Meintel short corner jumper, cutting the lead 33-29. Bethany forced five straight turnovers and climbed within two. Shortly after, the Green and White caught the turnover bug and allowed the Titans to build the lead back up to double digits. A three in the final minute extended the Westminster lead 46-33 at the end of three.

An Allison Kuhn free throw got the Green and White on the board first in the fourth quarter. Moments later, Haylie Glass hit a three to cut the Titan lead to single digits but the Titans would hold the Bison scoreless for the next five minutes. The Green and White cut the lead to 13 from a Meintel layup and a couple possessions later Glass hit another shot from behind the arc. The Bison's attempt to comeback fell short.
