Bethany Sends Graduating Stars Out in Style

BETHANY, W.Va. (BethanyBison.com) - On Senior Day, Bethany College takes match from Grove City, 3-1.  Prior to the match President Rodenberg joined head coach Courtney Kline in recognizing the outstanding careers of five graduating Bison student-athletes, Emily Duke (North Ridgeville, Oh.), Maggie Merren (Oregon, Oh.), Reilly Parker (North Huntingdon, Pa.), Keili Terry (Leesburg, Va.), and Ashley Veryser (Cygney, Oh.).

THE MATCHUP

  • Final: Bethany 3, Grove City 1 | 25-21, 25-21, 15-25, 25-17 (Box Score)

  • Records: Bethany 18-9, 11-3 PAC | Grove City 11-10, 5-6 PAC

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Despite missing the conference leader in Kills, Bethany College attacked Grove City early winning the first two sets 25-21 each.  

  • Leading the Bison attack was junior Lyndsey Llewellyn (Vermillion, Oh./Norwalk St. Paul) with 18 kills and a team high .265 Kill percentage.
  • A third game set back (17-25) only reignited the Bison in set four.  The green and white were victorious 25-71 in the fourth and ultimately final set of the day.

  • Senior setter Emily Duke (North Rideville, Oh./North Ridgeville) played all around today notching 36 of the team's 37 assists, 3 kills and 2 blocks.

  • Three Bison notched 20 or more digs led by seniors Keili Terry (Leesburg, Va./Saint John's) with 26 and Reilly Parker (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) with 20.  Sophomore Natalie Spitale (East Canton, Oh./East Canton) also added 20 digs.

MATCH NOTES

  • With today's win that moves Bethany's home record to 5-1 and confernce record to 10-3.

  • With two matches remaining in the regular season, Bethany has the opportunity to win 20 matches for the ninth consecutive year. 

  • The Bison return to Hummel Field House on Wednesday, October 24 at 7:00pm vs. Saint Vincent.
