Baseball: Bearcats Walk-off Against Bison

Latrobe, Pa. – The Bethany College baseball team battled with Saint Vincent Wednesday afternoon in a PAC single game contest at Bearcat Ballfield.

Game Overview

Saint Vincent 7, Bethany 6

Despite grounding out into a double play, Alec Berg drove in Colton Stoneman to put Bethany on the board first in the first inning. In the bottom half of the inning, the Bearcats scored four runs to take a 4-1 lead after one inning of play. The Bison scored twice in the second inning. Derek Black and Mike Hines both scored for the Bison in the second inning. In the fifth inning, Bethany regained the lead after Mike Hines singled to leftfield to score Cameron Schaub.

The Bearcats knotted the game at 5-5. In the seventh the Bison took back the lead after Alec Berg singled to drive in Cory Newman. The Bison couldn't hold onto the lead, with the Bearcats deadlocking the game once again in the eighth inning and sealing the win on a walk-off Bison error.

  • Mike Hines led the Bison with 2 RBIs.
  • Mark Lavezza pitched 6.0 innings with 10 hits, 5 runs (5 earned) and three strikeouts.
