Baseball: Yellow Jackets Sting Bison

Waynesburg, Pa. – The Bethany College baseball team fell late to the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets Friday afternoon.

Game Overview

Waynesburg 12, Bethany 10

Waynesburg led off the first inning by taking a 2-0 lead. The Bison knotted the game after Dezmond Franklin hit a two-run homerun. Sawyer D'Andrea drove in Cameron Schaub to give the Bison a 3-2 lead. In the fourth inning, Derek Black doubled to drive in two more Bison runs. A Michael Whiteherse double scored Derek Black to give Bethany a 6-2 lead. Cory Newman extended the lead to 7-2 after singling to right field which allowed Michael Whiteherse to score. Waynesburg added two runs in the fourth inning. Bethany added three runs in the fifth inning, but Waynesburg began to chip away at the Bison lead. After five innings, Bethany led 10-8. In the eighth inning, the Yellow Jackets knotted the game at 10-10 and scored two runs to take a two-run lead over the Bison.
