Bell and Gordon Earn PAC Weekly Honors

Greenville, Pa – Bethany College baseball player Seth Gordon and softball senior Tyra Bell were announced as Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Hitters of the week for their performances last week.

Senior softball first baseman Tyra Bell hit .300 (6-for-20) last week with three home runs, six RBIs, and four runs scored at the PFX Spring Games. Bell hit a sixth inning solo home run against Husson that would prove to be the game-winning score. Her two-run home run in the fifth inning against Wittenberg sparked the come-from-behind win and her solo home run against Juniata was also the eventual game-winning home run.

Junior outfielder Seth Gordon hit .455 (5-for-11) while totaling 13 RBIs and six runs for the Green and White during their 3-2 run at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Against Clark Summit, Gordon went 2-for-2 with a career high seven RBIs, three walks, and a pair of runs. Both hits coming from home runs. In the fourth inning he drilled a three-run home run before adding a grand slam in the fifth inning. Earlier in the week against Penn State Harrisburg, Gordon knocked a three-run home run out of the park.

Gordon finished the week with a 1.273 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage, which are both team highs.

On March 13, the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Presidents Council has determined it to be in the best interest of the health and safety of its students, faculty, staff and campus communities to indefinitely suspend all varsity athletically-related activities, effective immediately.

Along with the leadership of its member institutions, the PAC will continue to monitor the rapidly-evolving situation related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The decision by the PAC Presidents Council to indefinitely suspend all varsity athletically-related activities came after the March 12 announcement by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) cancelling the remaining winter and spring championships.
