Football: Bison Edged by Tomcats on Homecoming
BETHANY, W.Va – It was a rainy Saturday afternoon as the Bethany College Bison hosted PAC rival Thiel Tomcats for Homecoming weekend. The Tomcats snapped a 41-game losing streak by edging the Bison 27-26.
THE HIGHLIGHTS
- On the first drive of the game the Bison shortened the Tomcats drive with a Dadrick Vickers interception to put the Bison in Tomcat territory. However the first Bison drive ended in a punt.
- On the second Tomcat possession, the Tomcats scored on a one play 53-yard touchdown pass.
- The Bison were held scoreless until the 2:35 mark of the second quarter. Marquice Robinson found Tim Mickens for a 22-yard touchdown.
- The game didn't stay tied for long though, the Tomcats ran the kickoff 75-yards to take a 14-6 lead heading into halftime.
- Thiel jumped out to a 20-6 lead after a 73-yard run with 12:45 to go in the third quarter.
- Tre'jour Owens cut the defict to 20-12 with 9:20 to go in the third.
- Bethany's Marquice Robinson threw a 64-yard touchdown pass to De'Vaughn McWhorter and the Bison converted on the two-point conversion to deadlock the game at 20-20 before the end of the third quarter.
- The Bison took the lead for the first time with 8:48 to go in the fourth quarter after Tre'Jour Owens ran 27-yards. The extra point was blocked, with the Bison leading 26-20.
- On the next Tomcat possession they moved down the field in five plays and 36-yards to regain the lead.

Bethany will return to Don Ault Field at Bison Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 8 for a PAC matchup against Grove City College at 1 pm.
