DANBURY, Conn. (Jan. 16) - After helping the Bethany College men's basketball team go 2-0 last week, Bison senior guard Calique Jones (Pittsburgh, Pa./Obama Academy) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South Player of the Week announced the organization Tuesday afternoon.

Jones helped the Bison defeat both Washington & Jefferson and Grove City last week to improve Bethany to 6-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC). He averaged 21.0 points per game last week on 55 percent shooting (16-of-29) and leads the PAC with a 19.3 points per game scoring average this season.

The Pittsburgh native dropped 24 points, including 4-of-5 three-point attempts, with a season-high seven assists in Bethany's 69-66 overtime win against W&J. Jones helped send the game into the extra session with a pair of free throws in the final minute that tied the game.

He closed out the week with 18 points and a season-high four steals in the team's 75-55 rout of Grove City this past Saturday.

Earlier this season, Jones became the 26th player in the history of the program to surpass the 1,000 career-point mark. He currently sits at 1,238 points, which ranks 12th all-time and two points behind former Bison Phil Harrison (1960-64).

Jones will lead the Bison into his hometown when Bethany travels to Pittsburgh to take on Chatham on Wednesday, January 17 at 8 p.m.
