THE BASICS

Final Scores:

Game One: Capital 4, Bethany 3

Game Two: Capital 13, Bethany 0 (5 innings)

  • Capital (12-12, 5-9 OAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME ONE)

  • Bethany took advantage of an error in the first inning. Haley Eyler pushed in Morgan Huey for the first run of the game.

  • Capital scored all of their runs in the bottom of the third inning. They loaded the bases with a walk and a pair of singles. The Comets drove home a pair of runs on consecutive sacrifices; a squeeze play and another sacrifice fly. A two RBI double gave the home team a 4-1 lead until the top of the sixth inning.

  • Despite the Bison having only four hits, the lineup was timely with two near the end of the game. Mary Marshall doubled down the line to lead off the inning. Brooke Markland drove her in with a single to center. Heads up baserunning allowed Markland to come home to make it a one run game.

  • With three outs remaining, the Bison couldn't manage to escort a player around the bases to tie the game. Capital took game one.
