Bio
Bethany College has appointed Professor Heather Taylor as the new Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR), where she will serve as a key advocate for the well-being and academic success of student-athletes.
As part of the NCAA Division III mission, the Faculty Athletic Representative plays a vital role in strategic planning and academic oversight. FARs are instrumental in ensuring that intercollegiate athletics are conducted in a manner that supports student-athletes’ physical, psychological, and educational growth. As FAR, Professor Taylor will also oversee nominations for NCAA grants, scholarships, and recognition programs, helping athletes excel both on and off the field.
“Professor Heather Taylor is the perfect candidate to step into the Faculty Athletic Representative role,” states Interim Athletic Director Jen Windmiller. “As a Bethanian, she deeply loves the college, and our athletes appreciate her. Not only is her presence felt at games and her support evident in the classroom, but she also pours deeply into the athletes' lives and champions their successes.”
Professor Taylor’s commitment to Bethany College and its athletes makes her an excellent fit for this role. Her involvement on campus extends beyond the classroom, with her support for student-athletes evident in their personal and academic lives. Her leadership will foster a balanced environment where academic achievement and athletic competition thrive in harmony.
“As FAR, Professor Heather Taylor embodies the core values of Bethany College by fostering an environment where student-athletes can thrive academically, athletically, and personally,” says Dr. Danny Moore, vice president of academic affairs. “Her dedication to the holistic development of our students, combined with her passion for their success, makes her an outstanding leader for this important role. We are confident that her leadership will further enhance the integration of athletics and academics, ensuring that our student-athletes continue to excel.”
Bethany looks forward to the positive influence Professor Heather Taylor will have as she continues to support and advocate for our student-athletes’ success.
