Bio

Clayton Stanton joined the Bison football coaching staff in 2022 season. 

Prior to joining the Bethany football program, Stanton was a member of the SUNY Brockport football coaching staff for the 2021 season. He led the running backs, full backs, and tight ends. 

Stanton tutored Jala Coad to one of the best rushing performances across Division III football. The running back earned all-conference and all-region accolades as he found the endzone in nine of 10 games and finished the regular season ranked ninth nationally in rushing yards with a career-high 1,198 yards, while leading the Empire 8 in rushing touchdowns (15) and scoring (10.2 points per game). Coad was named the Empire 8 Conference Offensive Player of the Week three times and earned one D3football.com National Team of the Week selection. 

Additionally, Stanton guided tight end James Altenburger to a third-team all-conference selection after reeling in 13 catches for 167 yards. He averaged 12.85 yards per catch during the 2021 campaign. 

Originally from Albion, NY where he graduated from Albion High School, Stanton was a three-year letter winner at Baldwin Wallace University in Cleveland, Ohio, making 25 starts on the offensive line. During his time with the Yellow Jackets, the program posted an overall record of 31-19. From 2017-2019, Stanton was instrumental in an offensive unit that rushed for over 150 yards per game in three-straight seasons. 

He graduated from Baldwin Wallace with a degree in sports management with a minor in business management. After finishing his degree, he stayed on with the Baldwin Wallace program as an assistant offensive line coach for a year.
