Women's Basketball: Bison fall to Bearcats in PAC quarterfinals

LATROBE, Pa. – The Bethany College women's basketball team traveled to Saint Vincent College for the quarterfinal round of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) tournament. No. 2 Saint Vincent used a strong second half surge to defeat No. 7 Bethany, 56-43. 

GAME FLOW

  • Saint Vincent took the early 7-0 lead over Bethany. Alyssa Serensky put Bethany on the board with 5:39 to go after a shot from behind the arc. Taylor Dusenberry hit her first of four three's in the first half.
  • The Bearcats led 11-6 after the first quarter.
  • Sophie Morey opened up the second stanza with a jumper to cut the lead to 11-8. The Saint Vincent lead swelled to 17-8. Taylor Dusenberry scored the Bison's next nine points all from behind the arc to cut the Bearcat lead to two, 19-17. As time was expiring in the half, Madison Weber hit a layup to give Saint Vincent a 21-17 lead at the half.
  • The Bearcats went on a 14-3 run in the third to balloon their lead to 15. Saint Vincent led 41-24 after three quarters of play.
  • Bethany went on a 10-2 run in the fourth, but Saint Vincent answered with a 7-2 run of their own to maintain the double-digit lead.

  • Saint Vincent held the field-goal percentage advantage shooting 39.7 percent (23-58) from the field while holding Bethany to 22.2 percent (12-54) from the field.
  • Bethany went 6-21 (28.6) from behind the arc.
  • Saint Vincent dominated Bethany in the paint 30-10.
