Bio

Brad Jones will enter his second season as the head coach of the men’s and women’s tennis programs in the 2018-19 season.

In his first season as head coach, Jones helped lead the women's team to four wins; the most wins in a single-season by the Bison since 2011. Under Jones, Bethany ended a four-year drought with its first-win since 2012 when the Bison defeated Muskingum on September 22, 2017. Despite the team struggles on the men's side, Drake Berlin produced a 10-5 record at No. 2 singles and teamed with Chris Ray to post an 8-7 mark at No. 1 doubles.

Jones came to Bethany after spending the last year as the Tennis Pro at the Westwood Country Club in Vienna, Virginia. He has also previously served as the Director of Tennis at the Darnestown Swim & Tennis Club in Darnestown, Maryland and worked as an assistant tennis coach at the River Falls Swim & Tennis Club in Potomac, Maryland over the past five years.

Jones’ last collegiate tennis stint came in 2009-10 when he served as an assistant coach, and later interim head coach, at Emory & Henry College in Virginia. The men’s team ended that season 15-6 overall and made an appearance in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Quarterfinals, while the women’s team went 4-15 overall on the year.

His first head coaching position was at Abingdon High School in Virginia where he was named the 2009 Southwest District Tennis Coach of the Year.

Jones played collegiately at Emory & Henry, where he was named All-ODAC as a senior in 2007.

He holds a P2 Certification with the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) and an Associate Instructor Certification with the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR).

Jones received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sports Management from Emory & Henry in 2007 and later completed his Master of Arts degree with a focus in community and organizational leadership from the college in 2011.
