Two Champs Crowned for T&F

Two Champs Crowned for T&F

MUSKINGUM, OHIO – The Bethany Bison ventured back to Ohio for their final race prior to the official postseason. Two athletes took home the crown for the men.

Alexander Blair and Dave Rene went above and beyond their competition- literally.

Rene leaped a masterful 6.61 meters to claim first place in the long jump. Rene's jump put him passed all other competition, out-jumping the second place athlete by nearly six inches.

Blair had similar success, only he jumped vertically. The sophomore tri-sport athlete cleared six feet in the high jump, coming just an inch away from a personal best. Blair finished first in the event, being the only athlete to clear 5-11 or better.

While not a champ, it is obviously worth noting that Caliyph McClinton re-broke his own school record in the 60 meter dash. McClinton cruised to a runner up finish, continuing to wind down his time every weekend.

Tsi Fofang was another point-earner for the Bison on the track. He plowed his way to a 7.11 second finish in the 60 meter, finishing seventh among the field.

Jalen Britton slid into 10th place for Bethany. The thrower found the most success in the shot put, tossing an 11.62 meter ball.

Alexis Mahaffey had her typical podium finish in the weight throw. Mahaffey was the runner up with a 15.32m throw, improving from her last meet.

Mahaffey also improved her placing in the shot put. She moved up one spot to sixth after tossing 10.77 meters. Makenna Philson was right behind her teammate, taking seventh with a 10.64 meter throw.

The Bison will travel to Youngstown State University for the Presidents Athletic Conference Indoor Championships in less than a week. They will compete on Thursday.
