Morrison Joins Bethany College at Head Athletic Trainer

Bethany, W. Va. – The Bethany College Director of Athletics Steve Thompson announced the hiring of Kacey Morrison as the new Head Athletic Trainer Tuesday afternoon.

"Kacey has a tremendous background and history of supporting student-athletes. The passion she has for her profession was obvious throughout the interview process and she will be a huge addition supporting over 350 Bethany student-athletes" said Thompson. "She brings with her plenty of new ideas and will undoubtedly create an environment that gets our student-athletes safely back to competition."

Morrison comes to Bethany after serving as a clinical assistant at Rock Valley Physical Therapy for the last five years. During her time at Rock Valley Physical Therapy she served as the head athletic trainer at Rockridge High School. Morrison was also the Director of Strength and Conditioning for the Augustana College Women's Basketball team from 2016-18.

"It has always been a goal of mine to build something as impactful as I experienced in undergrad, because it is hugely responsible for who I grew up to be," Morrison expressed. "Bethany immediately had that feeling. I'm very excited to jump into building a sports medicine program that will benefit the student-athletes and coaches, but hopeful that it can lead to some students finding their future path as well."

Prior to her time at Rock Valley Physical Therapy, Morrison spent time at Blackburn College. At Blackburn, she started out as the Assistant Athletic Trainer for soccer, basketball, and baseball. Eventually she became the College's Head Athletic Trainer in May of 2012. Morrison was also an Adjunct Faculty member.

After graduating with her Masters, Morrison was the Student Assistant at Washington University and spent a year at Alton High School before her move to Blackburn College.

"I graciously want to thank Bethany for giving me this opportunity, especially the search committee and administration. They have made it an easy decision to join The Bison and to want to start impacting ONE Bethany!" stated Morrison. "While I'm excited to return to the collegiate level, I also want to thank the Rockridge HS community for the warmth they always provided."

A Peotone, Illinois native, Morrison earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Psychology with a minor in Biology from Illinois College and her Master of Athletic Training from Saint Louis University.
