Men's Track and Field: McClinton earns Newcomer of the Year at PAC Championships

MORGANTOW, W.Va. – Bethany College freshman Caliyph McClinton was named Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Newcomer of the Year at the PAC Outdoor Championships Friday evening.

McClinton finished third in the 100m dash with a time of 10.93. On Thursday, he broke the school record with a time of 10.87 in the prelims. McClinton also finished fourth in the 200m with a school record time 21.84.

He also was the anchor for the men's 4x100, which earned a PAC Championship with a time of 42.24. The other three members of the relay team were Charbilot Marcelin, Tsi Fofang and Lukentz Olyce

McClinton is the first freshman from Bethany College to win the award and the second freshman to win a major award since Umar Moore, who was also a freshman and was named Field co-MVP in 2013.

Charbilot Marcelin and Dave Rene finished second and third in the men's long jump. Marcelin leaped 6.58m while Rene had a personal best jump of 6.52m.

Freshman Jalen Britton finished second in the discus with a throw of 42.30m.

The Bison men finished seventh with 44 points.
