Softball Picked Sixth in Pre-Season PAC Poll

Greenville, Pa. (Feb. 15) - The Bethany College softball team was picked to finish sixth in the annual Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll announced Friday afternoon.

PAC 2018 champions St. Vincent is the leagues favorite to win again this year, followed by Westminster and Washington & Jefferson.

Geneva College was picked fourth, followed by Thiel College in fifth, Grove City College in seventh, Waynesburg University in eighth and Chatham University in ninth.

The Bison under first year head coach Cassie Moore will return the majority of last year's team that won 17 games last season. Among those returning is Second-Team All-PAC player Kayla Dinsmore. Dinsmore started all 35 games and had a break-out season for the Bison after hitting .345 to lead the team in batting. She also posted team-bests with a .390 on-base percentage and five stolen bases, while ranking second on the team with 23 RBI and 21 runs scored.

Along with Dinsmore, the green and white returns juniors Erica Amoroso, Tyra Bell, and Kaitlyn Mills. Infielder Amoroso finished the season batting .263 with nine RBI and scored 23 runs. First basemen Bell led the Bison in RBI (28) and extra base hits (nine doubles, and five homeruns) and looks to keep the offensive momentum going this year for the green and white. Bell finished the 2018 season batting .318 with 28 RBI, 35 hits, and 17 runs scored.

Infielder Mills finished last season with batting .227 with 12 runs scored and five RBI to round out the Bison PAC players to watch this season.

"We are not only excited about the talent of our team, but the effort we continually bring to be better students and athletes. I look forward to competing and growing with this group as we continue the tradition of competitive softball at Bethany," stated first year head coach Cassie Moore.

The Bison take the field Mar. 18 against Ripon College, for the Spring Games in Clearmont, Florida.
