Volleyball sweeps Waynesburg, 3-0

BETHANY, W.Va. (Sept. 6) – The Bethany College volleyball team earned a 3-0 win (25-23, 25-10, 25-17) over Waynesburg to open Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Wednesday night inside the Hummel Field House.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Waynesburg nearly stole the opening set of the match and trailed 23-22 thanks to a pair of service aces. The Bison took a timeout and regrouped to take two of the next three points, including a kill by junior Lindsey Llewellyn (Vermillion, Ohio/Norwalk St. Paul) that helped secure a set one win.
- Bethany was much more efficient in the following two sets, including a second-set in which the Bison held Waynesburg to a negative-.067 hitting percentage.
- The Bison completed the sweep in the third match, leading by as many as eight points at one time.
MATCH NOTES
- Senior Sumayyah Muhammad (Warren, Ohio/Warren G. Harding) and sophomore Katie Sparks (Macedonia, Ohio/Trinity) were the team's top offensive threats. Each finished with a match-high eight kills in the win.
- Muhammad added a game-best four blocks (one solo) to her final line.
- Freshman Jenna Scott (New Castle, Pa./Liberty Christian) guided the offense with 19 assists.
- Junior Reilly Parker (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) was the Bison's top defender, ending the day with nine digs.
