Bethany College Volleyball Introduces Incoming Freshmen Class

Bethany, W.Va – The Bethany College women's volleyball team announced the addition of 14 newcomers to the 2019 team.

"I am extremely excited for this group of freshmen that will be coming into our Bison volleyball program this fall" stated head coach Courtney Kline. "It is a talented class with a great deal of potential."

The Bethany College volleyball team concluded the season with a record of 22-10, after falling to Christopher Newport in the first round of the NCAA tournament last season. The Bison clinched their second PAC Championship, defeating Westminster in a 3-0 sweep.

The Bison lost a core group of seniors that were a huge part of both PAC Championships. Among the core lost was defensive specialist, Reilly Parker. Parker concluded her career at Bethany as one of the top defensive players in program history as her total digs of 2,506 is good for second in Bethany history. The green and white also looks to replace setter Emily Duke, who stamped her name in the record books with 1,155 total assists, which is slotted 11th-best in Bethany laurels. Kelli Terry led the squad with 49 service aces last season, and wrapped up her collegiate career with 171 aces, which is slotted third best in program history. A force from the service line and in front of the net, the Bison also lost, Ashley Veryser and Maggie Merren to graduation.

Despite losing a group of key players, Bethany looks to continue to be competitive in the PAC adding in the talented incoming class.

"I am looking forward to working with each one of them and getting the freshmen group into the mix with our returners" added Kline. "Those two groups combined should round out a very competitive team with a great deal of talent as well as depth."
