GREENVILLE, Pa. (May 7) - After helping the team go 3-1 over the weekend, Bethany College sophomore pitcher Isaac Wengert (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) and freshman shortstop Kyle Goodwin (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg) were named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Pitcher and Rookie of the Week, respectively, Monday afternoon announced the league office.

Wengert was steady in Bethany's 15-1 game two win over Chatham Saturday afternoon to close out league play this season. The sophomore righty limited the Cougars to one run (unearned) on seven hits with a pair of strikeouts in the complete-game effort (nine innings). He threw 113 pitches -- 79 for strikes -- in the win. Saturday was Wengert's fifth victory of the season, and fourth complete game. Both are team bests for the Bison this season.

Goodwin hit .500 (10-for-20) out of the leadoff spot with four multi-hit games for the Bison during their 3-1 weekend. He totaled three doubles and a triple to go with five RBIs and four runs scored. In Saturday's 6-4 game one win over Chatham, Goodwin went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a triple and two RBIs. The rangy shortstop helped turn a pair of double plays against Chatham and finished with 13 assists in the series sweep.

Wengert, Goodwin and the rest of the Bison will conclude the 2018 season tomorrow, Tuesday, May 8 when they host Penn State Behrend for a non-conference game at 1 p.m.
