Bethany Men's Soccer Falls to Thomas More

Oct. 28 – BETHANY, W. Va. – The Bethany College men' soccer team fell, 7-1, to Thomas More in Presidents' Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night.

The Bison (5-11-2) trailed early as Thomas More (15-1-1) scored in the 5th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Saints added five more goals in the period, taking a six-goal advantage into the intermission.

Bethany played tough in the second period, holding Thomas More to two shots after conceding 12 shots in the first half.

The Bison offense capitalized in the 64th minute as Christian Corona (Miami, Fla./Southdade Senior) took a pass from Juan Zapata (Homestead, Fla./South Dade) and found the back of the net.

Bethany recorded four shots in the contest with freshman Rey Aguilar (Homestead, Fla./South Dade) leading the way with two shots. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Richard Martinez (Miami, Fla./Southdade Senior) got the start in net as he recorded two saves before exiting the match with an injury. Riley Harrison (Ballarat, Australia/Ballar Grammar) replaced Martinez in goal and collected a save in 24 minutes.

The game was called after 72 minutes of play due to inclement weather as the field quickly became unplayable.

Bethany College will be back in action when they welcome Thiel College to Hoag Field at 3:30 p.m on Saturday, October 31.
