Women's Golf Picked 10th in PAC Preseason Poll

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Bethany College women's golf team was picked to finish 10th in the Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) preseason poll, in a vote of the conference coaches, the league announced today (August 29, 2024).

"This is our first year having a full roster for our women's team, which is really exciting," said Bethany Bison Head Golf Coach Kailey Pettit. "I think our women's golf program is on the right track, especially since we only had one [athlete] on the roster two years ago. I'm really looking forward to watching them play this season."

The Bison's small roster size contributed to their last place finish with 13 points. Bethany did not compete in the PAC Championship in 2023. Athletes competed as individuals in the 2024 PAC Championship. This year, with a full roster, the Bison can elect to enter the team race or once again play as individuals.

The preseason poll was a tight race with Westminster edging out first place with five first place votes and 77 points. Washington and Jefferson was not far behind with 74 points and four first place votes. Grove City didn't receive a first place vote, but was third with 60 points. Allegheny claimed the sole remaining first place nod and 50 points.

Following the Gators was a tie for fifth place between Geneva and Thiel with 49 points, respectively. Another tie for seventh between Franciscan and Waynesburg followed, each earning 28 points. Saint Vincent earned 22 points and a ninth place finish. Bethany rounded out the poll with 13 points.

The Bison will host the Bethany College Invitational to kick off the year. The invite will be held at Oglebay Resort at 10 a.m. September 10.
