Bethany hires Brown as Defensive Coordinator

BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College Head Football Coach Brandon Robinson is announcing the hiring of Robbie Brown as the Bison's defensive coordinator.

"I'm excited to join the Bethany Football program and the Bethany community as a whole," says Brown. "This school has a storied history in the state as well as the region, and I'm excited to have a chance to add to that history for the better through the football program."

"I'm excited to welcome Coach Brown to Bethany as our new defensive coordinator," says Robinson. "Coach Brown comes to us with an extensive coaching background at the college level and will bring an exciting and aggressive style of defense to our team while also having a strong commitment to the development of the young men in our program."

Brown comes to Bethany after a short stint at Kenyon College, where he served as the Owls' defensive coordinator.

Last season for the Owls, Brown helped guide Defensive Lineman, Andy Canonico and Defensive Back Mychael Leno to All-NCAC selections.

Prior to Kenyon, Brown spent four years at Wilmington College. With the Quakers, he held multiple roles, including coaching the linebackers and defensive backs, while, at various times serving as the academic coordinator, defensive pass game coordinator, director of player personnel, and special teams coordinator.

Before working at Wilmington, Brown made stops at Oberlin College, North Carolina Wesleyan College, and Defiance College. As a coach, Brown has a resume that includes 13 all-conference, two all-region, and one All-America award-winners.

"I believe we have the makings of a good program, and I look forward to building a foundation with Coach Robinson, our staff, and our players that will foster good quality young men that can impact the Bethany community and wherever life takes them after graduation," says Brown.

Brown earned his master's degree in business administration with a concentration in sport management from Defiance College in 2015. As a graduate student, he worked with the Yellow Jacket defensive backs, as well as serving the program as video coordinator.
