Baseball World Series: Team Green Leads Team White, 2-1

Bethany, W. Va.- The Bethany College baseball team began their Green-White World Series on Saturday, October 17. Team Green took a 2-1 series lead over Team White.

Game One Overview
Team Green was in full command to kick off the World Series, jumping out to a quick 2-0 lead over Team White. Stefan Blackstone reached on a throwing error which allowed Nick Roell to score. Kevin Pollock drove in Blackstone. Team White cut the lead in half with a Kyle Goodwin hit to left field, scoring Colton Stoneman.
Team Green earned another run in the fourth when Alec Berg scored off of the bat of Cameron Schaub. Team Green continued to add to their lead in the fifth scoring Matt Colton and Christian Kampus giving Team Green a 5-1 win.

Game Two Overview:
Team Green continued their momentum taking game two, 7-3. It was a scoreless game until Team Green took a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning. Seth Gordon led Team Green off in the fourth with a single. Cory Newman drove in Gordon. Team Green would then score three straight runs off the bats of Quest Wilson and Dezmond Franklin. In the fifth inning, Team Green tacked on two more runs with Wilson driving in Pollock and Berg.

Team White scored their first run of game two in the bottom of the fifth with Goodwin scoring Stoneman. Team Green earned the run back in the top of the sixth, with freshman Roell scoring off of a Blackstone double. In the bottom half of the sixth, Team White continued to fight adding two more runs but were unable to pull ahead of Team Green.

Game Three Overview(Sunday):
Team White regained composure and took game three 9-5 on Sunday afternoon. Team Green struck first taking a 1-0 lead in the second inning with Kevin Pollock scoring off of a Dezmond Franklin hit. Team Green added another run in the fourth with a Franklin homerun, but Team White was able to regain the lead with three runs.

Kyle Goodwin started off the inning with a walk. Ryan Anselmino reached on a hit to leftfield, and Ethan Young walked, leaving the bases loaded for Derek Donatelli. Donatelli hit a sacrifice fly to leftfield which scored Goodwin. Kevin Roach hit a double to score Anselmino, and Seth Burgdolt scored Young with a sacrifice fly. Team White led after four innings, 3-2.

Both teams scored three runs a piece in the fifth inning to make the score 6-5. Team White added three more runs in the seventh to seal the win.
Team Green leads the series 2-1. Games four and five will be played on Saturday, October, 24 at 12 pm and 3 pm.
