Morey earns Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Bethany College senior forward, Sophie Morey garnered Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday afternoon.

Morey holds a 3.96 cumulative GPA while majoring in Political Science. As a captain of the women's basketball team, Morey is a member of the Political Science club, Honors Scholar and has made the PAC Academic Honor Roll three times. She was also chosen as a Presidential Fellow for the 2022-23 calendar year, making her one of only four applicants from the U.S. to be selected.

On the court, she has registered two double-doubles this season while averaging a team-high 6.7 rebounds per game. She averaged 4.8 points and 1.3 assists while shooting 43.9 percent from the field. In her final game in Hummel Field House she pulled down 15 rebounds with 17 points.

All-District honors are selected by College Sports Communicators, which recognize the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All‐America® program separately recognizes men's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All‐District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All‐America® ballot. First‐, second and third‐team Academic All‐ America® honorees will be announced in mid‐March. The CSC Academic All‐District® teams include the student‐athletes listed on the following pages.
