Truex named PAC Rookie of the Week

GREENVILLE, Pa. - Jan. 9 - Bethany College freshman Chaice Truex (Wheeling, W.Va./St. John Central (Ohio)) was named Rookie of the Week by the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) on Monday.

Truex averaged 11.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists off the bench in two Bison victories against Saint Vincent and Thiel last week.

The forward dropped 12 points with six rebounds and an assist in a 72-66 victory against Saint Vincent.

On Saturday, the Wheeling, W. Va. native tied for the team lead with 11 points, while leading the team with nine rebounds in a 73-70 home victory over Thiel. Truex hit two free throws late in the contest to give the Bison the three point edge.

This is the third time he has earned Rookie of the Week honors this season. He last earned the award on Dec. 12. He first earned it on Nov. 21.

Truex and the Bison are currently tied for fourth in the PAC with an 8-5 (3-3, PAC) record. Next on tap for Bethany, they travel to take on the Washington and Jefferson Presidents on Wednesday with tipoff set for around 8:00p.m.
