Women's Soccer Gears Up for Upcoming Season

Greenville, Pa. – The Bethany College Women's Soccer team was selected to finish tenth in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Preseason Poll announced Tuesday Afternoon.

The Grove City College women's soccer program was designated the favorite this fall in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), according to the league's annual preseason coaches' poll. The results of this year's poll, voted on by the conference's 10 head coaches, were revealed with the PAC's Players to Watch List Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Lauren (Lexie) Hillard landed on the PAC Players to Watch list. The senior looks to continue her leadership on the Bison defense. Hillard appeared in seven games last season.

The Bison return nine from last season's squad and look for consistency in the 2021-22 season.

"This program has consistently been a team that has heart and is resilient through every obstacle they face" stated third year head coach Alyssa Finelli. "This year, we have talented returners coupled with energetic and skilled newcomers that will allow us to build off of our success the previous two seasons."

Joining Hillard as a key returner on defense is junior Makayla Crownover. Crownover appeared in eight games last season and was a key defender for the Bison.

Newcomer Ava Lee, whose sister, Rebecca Lee was a key member of the Bison women's soccer team (2016-2020), looks to make an immediate impact on the Bison defense.

Offensively, Finelli expects newcomer Jayda Larsen to help the Bison hit the back of the net this season.

"The preseason has had an unmistakable energy that I know will allow us to propel into the fall with an excitement for the future of the program" added Finelli.

The Bison open up the 2021-22 season at Hoag Field, against Penn St.-Beaver Wednesday, September 1 at 4 pm.
