Football Gears Up for 2021 Season at PAC Media Day

Latrobe, Pa. – Bethany College ninth-year Head Coach Bill Garvey and senior quarterback Dom Salinetro (Landisburg, Pa. | West Perry) represented the Bison at the annual Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Football Media Day at the Rogers Center on the campus of Saint Vincent College Tuesday afternoon.

The team was picked to finish eighth by the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) coaches and sports information directors and media the league's annual football media day. Westminster was selected as the league-favorite, while Washington and Jefferson and Case Western Reserve rounded out the top-three.

Salinetro was one of six Bison who were named to the PAC Players to Watch list. Salinetro threw for 650 yards and six touchdowns last season. He ranked third in the PAC for passing average per game with 213.7 yards and third in total offense.

Joining Salinetro on the PAC Players to Watch list are senior defensive back Danny Gilbert Jr., juniors De'Vaughn McWhorter, Colton Stoneman, and Dadrick Vickers. Sophomore Brennan Secrist rounds out the Bison on the players to watch list.

McWhorter and Secrist return as two of Salinetro's top targets on offense. Secrist ranked in the top five in two categories for the Bison. He finished second in receiving yards per game with 102.0 and finished fourth in receptions per game with 5.7. McWhorter also finished in the top five in receptions per game with 5.0.

Rounding out offensive side of the players to watch is junior running back Colton Stoneman. Stoneman averaged 48.3 yards per game in 32 attempts. He finished with 145 yards on the season and one touchdown.

Defensively, senior Danny Gilbert Jr. and Dadrick Vickers look to continue leading the Bison. Gilbert Jr. finished the season third on the team with 16.0 tackles, while Vickers continued to be a threat to the opponents passing game. Vickers finished the season with an interception, giving him eight career interceptions.

The Bison open up the 2021-22 season on the road on September 3 against Hiram College. Kickoff is slated for 7 pm.
