HUMMEL FIELD HOUSE- The Bison avoid a clean sweep in a tri-meet against opponents Buffalo State and St. Mary-Woods. They went 0-2 on the day.
Bethany had their highest kill set immediately against the Buffalo State Bengals. In the first set played, the Bison had nine kills. A third of those came from freshman outside hitter Riley Burdett.
The Bison continued to play well into the second set, taking one away from the Bengals in a 27-25 scrap. After falling early, Bethany stormed back to take a 12-9 lead thanks to a Rylan Trapp kill-then-ace combo.
The Bengals kept it close, trading punches until they crept into a 25-24 lead. Burdett landed a kill to tie it at 25. McKay Ginez then served up the Bison two consecutive points to take set two of the matchup.
The Bison dropped the next two sets, but put up some season highs in the process.
St. Mary-Woods served as Bethany's final test of the day. The Bison continued the trend of "first set best set", hitting their highest percentage of the day (.267).
Regardless, the Bison weren't able to steal a set against their NAIA opponents dropping 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX & NOTES:
-
Burdett had 10 kills and 13.5 points against Buffalo State- both season highs for himself and the Bison.
-
