
MVB Narrowly Falls in Third Set
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Bethany continued their Presidents Athletic Conference road trip with a match against Chatham. The Bison improved in each set, pushing the Cougars to the limit in the third and final set. However, Chatham swept Bethany in three.
Bethany had eight kills in the first and third set. A large portion of those came from Gavin McAllister. The freshman posted a season high seven kills, leading the team in said category. McAllister also posted a season high eight points, adding an extra point off a pair of block assists.
Rylan Trapp continues to heat up mid season. Trapp led the team with eight and a half points. His scores were scattered throughout the box score, picking up five kills, two aces, and three block assists.
Riley Burdett took a backseat offensively, but wasn't out of the game completely. The outside hitter led the team in digs and aces. He filed three aces and nine digs.
The Bison brought it all together in the third set. The Bison led very early in the match, then fell behind. The Bison retook control at a brief moment (12-11). The third set went back and forth until Chatham stormed to a 22-17 lead. The Bison never quit, rallying a 6-1 run to tie the match at 23 a piece. Although the Green and Gold threatened to comeback and take a set, the Cougars were able to finish strong sweeping in three sets.
The Bison will compete in a non-conference tri-meet next. Bethany will travel to Lynchburg to take on the host and Roanoke this Saturday. Match one will begin at 2 p.m.
