Bison fall at Saint Vincent; Daugherty moves to third all-time

LATROBE, Pa. (Feb. 7) - Senior forward Kelsea Daugherty (Newport, Ohio/Frontier) moved into the top-three all-time in Bethany College scoring history, but the Bison came up short in a 79-47 loss at Saint Vincent Wednesday night at the Carey Center in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game.

The loss drops Bethany to 10-12 overall, 7-8 in the PAC. Meanwhile, the Bearcats improve to 12-3 in conference play, 15-7 overall this season.

Daugherty passed former Bison and current Westminster Head Coach Rose Scott (1996-00) for third all-time in Bethany scoring history and now has 1,642 career points. She ended the night with a game-high 19 points and 10 rebounds to register her 11th double-double of the season. Daugherty also moved into second all-time in rebounds with 930 for her career, passing Denise Doster (1987-91).

The Bison were held scoreless over the first six minutes of the contest and fell behind early, trailing 18-8 at the end of the first quarter. The Bearcats continued to build upon their lead and eventually took a 41-17 lead into halftime. Saint Vincent continued to add to its lead and held a 20-point advantage throughout the second half.

Saint Vincent ended the game 31-of-68 (46 percent) from the field, compared to the 17-of-48 (35 percent) posted by the Bison. The Bearcats also finished with a 44-to-30 edge on the glass and held a 40-to-20 advantage in points in the paint.

The Bison will look to rebound on Saturday, February 10 when they travel to Washington, Pennsylvania to take on conference-rival Washington & Jefferson at 1 p.m.
