Football: Bison Drop PAC Opener to Wolverines

Grove City, Pa. – The Bethany College football team (0-2, 0-1) opened up Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play against the Grove City Wolverines Saturday night under the lights at Robert E. Thorn field. The Bison dropped their second straight road game against the Wolverines, 41-15.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Isaiah Thomas had a pick-six for 54-yards to give the Bison an early 7-0 lead
  • The Wolverines scored the next 27 points to take a 27-7 lead
  • The Bison pinned the Wolverines and earned a safety cutting the lead to 27-9
  • Minutes later, Brennan Secrist hauled in a 22-yd pass from Dom Salinetro
  • Grove City held Bethany to 15 points while adding 28 points to seal the PAC victory

BY THE NUMBERS

296 – The Wolverines rushed for 296 yards while the Bison were held to -1-yards rushing

76 – Brennan Secrist reeled in six receptions for a total of 76-yards and one touchdown

2 – The Bison defense had two interceptions (I.Thomas and Danny Gilbert Jr.)

12 – Danny Gilbert Jr. led the defense with 12 tackles (7 solo); Gilbert added one pass breakup and interception to his stat line

1 – Freshman Wakke Lawton registered the Bison's first sack of the season for a loss of eight yards

2 – Last night's loss was only the second time that Grove City has beaten Bethany in Coach Garvey's tutelage
