Men's Basketball: Bison fall late to Wolverines

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Bethany College men's basketball team was edged by Grove City College, 70-69 Saturday afternoon.  

GAME FLOW/HIGHLIGHTS

  • For majority of the game, the Bison and Wolverines exchanged the lead 21 times while deadlocking the score 11 times.
  • The Bison held a narrow 35-30 lead with one minute remaining in the first half. The Wolverines however, would close out the first half on a 6-0 run to take a slim 36-35 lead heading into the halftime break.
  • Ben Guffey hit a three to knot the game at 38-38.
  • The Bison and Wolverines were tied at 64-64 with under five minutes to go.
  • With the Bison holding a two-point lead, 69-67, after Troy Hixson hit a three for his 18th point of the game. The Wolverines hit a three with 1:07 to go in the game.
  • The Bison had plenty of opportunities to take the lead but the basketball wouldn't fall for the Green and White.

  • Grove City went 30-for-72 from the field and 7-for-23 from behind the arc. Bethany went 22-for-65 and 10-for-34 from behind the arc.
  • The Wolverines edged the Bison on the boards, 49-42.
  • The Bison scored 21 points off turnovers.

Bethany will return to the court Wednesday, Feb. 7 when they travel to Latrobe, Pa. to face Saint Vincent College at 7:30 pm.
