Men's Basketball: Dailey records a new career-high in loss to Bearcats

LATROBE, Pa. – The Bethany College men's basketball team battled Saint Vincent College Wednesday evening. Despite a career-high 36 point performance by sophomore Cole Dailey, the Bearcats defeated the Bison, 102-96.

GAME FLOW/HIGHLIGHTS

  • Saint Vincent was dominate over Bethany for majority of the first half. They held a 21 point lead, 40-19. However, the Bison wouldn't back down, they slowly began to chip away at the Bearcat lead.
  • The Bison ended the half on an 18-9 run to cut the deficit to 49-37 heading into the halftime break.
  • To open the second half, both teams exchanged baskets with the Bearcats maintaining the lead.
  • After trailing by double-digits the Bison used a 14-2 run to bring the deficit to seven, 70-63.
  • Bethany and Saint Vincent continued to battle.
  • Down the stretch, Bethany cut the deficit to four multiple times, but couldn't get a stop to bring them closer to the Bearcats. In the final few minutes, the Bearcats capitalized on free throws while the Bison couldn't convert at the charity stripe consistently.  

IN THE BOX SCORE

  • Bethany was led by Cole Dailey with 36 points, 13 rebounds (6 offensive) and four blocks.
  • Tony Fox added 18 points with three steals.
  • Will Brooks had 17 points and four steals.
  • Troy Hixson added 11 points.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Saint Vincent shot 49.2% from the field while Bethany shot 45.7%.
  • The difference in the game was from the charity stripe. Saint Vincent went 36-of-48 while Bethany went 28-of-44.
  • The Bearcats out rebounded the Bison, 45-39.

Bethany will return to the court Saturday, Feb. 10 when they host Geneva in a PAC matchup beginning at 3 pm inside Hummel Field House.
