Men's Lacrosse Tabbed Seventh in PAC Preseason Poll

Greenville, Pa - The Bethany College men's lacrosse team was picked to finish seventh in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Men's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll, which was released Wednesday along with the league's Players to Watch list.

Grove City secured the top spot in the coaches' poll followed by Saint Vincent College and Westminster College.

Chatham University was picked fourth and was followed by Washington & Jefferson College in fifth, Thiel College in sixth, and Bethany College in seventh. Franciscan University was picked eighth after being announced as a PAC full member last April.

Bethany will be led by a trio of returners, Nicholas Melita (Fredericksburg, Va. | Massaponax), Andrew Smith (Erie, Pa | McDowell), and Clayton Yingling (Union Bridge, Md. | Linganore). Freshman Dillion Davenport (Farfax, Va. | Fairfax) rounds out the Players to Watch list for the Bison.

Sophomore goalkeeper, Smith looks to continue to be a force in the net for the Bison. He registered 197 saves with a save percentage of 53.8. He tallied a career-high 32 saves against Hiram. Sophomores Melita and Yingling look to lead the Bison on the offensive end. Melita finished the season with 18 points with 13 goals and five assists, while Yingling tallied 15 points with 10 goals and five assists.

The Bison will open the 2020 season of competition on the road against Wilmington, Ohio on Wednesday, February 26 at 6 pm.
