Men's Lacrosse Opens 2020 Season at Wilmington
Wilmington, Ohio – The Bethany College men's lacrosse team took on Wilmington (OH) to open up the 2020 season Thursday evening at Williams Stadium. The Bison fell to the Quakers, 10-7.
GAME OVERVIEW
Wilmington took a three goal lead in the first period. Aarin Burton hit the back of the net for the Bison first with 0:58 seconds left in the first period. The Quakers led 4-3 at the end of one. After a Quaker goal in the second, Aarin Burton scored for the Bison, to cut the lead back to three. The Green and White were behind 5-2 heading into the break.
In the third period, Bethany scored four goals. The first goal came off the stick from Clay Yingling. Minutes later, Tristan Shaffer cut the lead to one, with 7:49 to go in the period. After another Wilmington goal, Koury Kloss cut the lead back to one, 6-5. The Bison and Quakers battled back and forth. Nicholas Melita scored with under a minute to go in the third period. Wilmington led 8-6 heading into the final period.
In the fourth period, Wilmington took a four goal lead. Nicholas Melita hit the back of the net for the second time in the game, but the Bison would fall short of a comeback.
