Bearcats Overcome Bison

HUMMEL FIELD HOUSE – Men's Volleyball hosted their first Presidents Athletic Conference game since the middle of February. Tonight the Saint Vincent Bearcats came to town. They defeated the Bison in three sets.

The Bison continued to build throughout all three sets, getting closer and closer to taking a set away from the Bearcats.

Bethany was battling early in the second set. They found themselves tied at nine before Saint Vincent went on a four point run. After a timeout to regroup, the Bison rallied for three consecutive points to bring the set within one.

Logan Mills was feeling himself serving. Already having one ace under his belt in this sequence, Mills struck his hardest serve yet. The ball bounced off the shoes of a Bearcat in the back row for what seemed like an ace. Instead, the call was ruled as a replay. The Bison lost the next point- and with that all momentum. They dropped set two 25-20.

The Bison were unable to rebuild that momentum until late in the third set. The offense started to click when the Bison were down 17-10, tying it up at 22. A big part of that run was a five point stretch capped off by back-to-back blocks by McKay Ginez and Logan Mills.

However the Bison fell just short of taking set three (25-23).

Ginez ended with three block assists, an ace, and six kills to tie for the team lead in points (8.5). Tyler Johnson was his partner at the top. He also had six kills with two aces and a block assist.

The Bison will host Chatham in a few days. Hummel Field House will welcome another men's volleyball contest Friday at 6 p.m.
