
Women's Lacrosse: Bison fall to Barons
STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Bethany College women's lacrosse traveled to Franciscan University for a PAC matchup Saturday afternoon. The Barons defeated the Bison, 15-8.
THE BASICS
Final Score: Franciscan 15, Bethany 8
Records: Franciscan (3-3, 2-0) Bethany (4-6, 0-2)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bethany held the early 1-0 lead after Gracie Gonzales scored on a free position shot. Franciscan knotted the game at 1-1 with 8:32 to go but less than thirty seconds later, Cassidy Mailloux regained the Bison lead. Franciscan and Bethany exchanged the final two goals of the period with the Bison taking a 3-2 lead.
- In the second period, the Barons scored six straight goals to take a commanding lead over the Bison heading into halftime.
- Cassidy Mailloux and Emily Wenger scored the first two goals of the second half for the Bison, cutting the lead to three. Franciscan scored the next four goals to take a 12-5 lead heading into the final period.
- Emily Wenger scored the first two goals of the final period but Franciscan would once again go on a run of their own to continue to hold the commanding lead.
BISON TOP PERFORMERS
- Cassidy Mailloux and Emily Wenger had three goals each.
- Gracie Gonzales and Jada Carter both added one goal.
- Karley Trinidad had an assist.
- Jada Carter led the Bison with four caused turnovers.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Franciscan outshot Bethany, 34-27.
- Both teams scored two free position goals.
