BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Sept. 29) - A goal in double-overtime by senior Ashley Borsch (Richmond, Ohio/Edison) helped secure a 3-2 win for Bethany over Geneva in both teams' Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener Friday night at the Meriman Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bison opened up a 2-0 lead in the first half to jump out in front.
- Freshman Riley Meyers (Dubois, Pa./Dubois Central Catholic) put a shot on the goalkeeper that rebounded right to the foot of junior Lexie Metz (Frostburg, Md./Mountain Ridge), who buried the ball to give Bethany a 1-0 lead in the 21st-minute.
- Meyers extended the Bethany lead to two goals 11 minutes later when she got behind the Golden Tornado defense and notched a breakaway finish for her team-leading sixth of the season.
- Bethany maintained the 2-0 lead into halftime, but Geneva came out of the break with a barrage of shots and finally sliced the lead to one goal, 2-1, in the 64th-minute. Geneva scored off of a save by freshman Maria Concha Vazquez (Queretaro, Mexico/Thomas Jefferson) that rebounded right to a Golden Tornado.
- Geneva evened the score in the final 10 minutes of the match to send the contest into overtime.
- After a scoreless first overtime period, senior Michaela Hinerman (Weirton, W.Va./Brooke) put a shot on goal that was defelected away. The ball went towards Borsch, who put the ball into the back of the net to clinch the victory.
MATCH NOTES
- Vazquez picked up the win in net after posting a season-high 13 saves in the win.
- Geneva held a significant edge in shots, finishing with a 28-10 advantage in the match.
