Bison's Second Half Comback Falls Short

BETHANY, WV (BethanyBison.com) - The Bethany College women's soccer team was handed a 3-1 defeat in a non-conference bout against Muskingum University inside Bison Stadium, Tuesday, Sept. 25.

  • Records: Bethany 3-6, Muskingum 5-4

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Muskies used a pair of first half goals to jump to an early lead over the Bison, including a penalty kick goal in just the fifth minute.

  • Coming out of the half, the Green and White were able to get itself with one at the 66th mark. Taking the corner, senior Lindsey Cornish (McKeesport, Pa./South Allegheny) crossed the ball to the box where fellow senior Lexie Metz (Frostburg, Md./Mountain Ridge) was waiting to put it away.

  • Muskingum tacked on an insurance goal at 72:02 after the Muskies were awarded a free kick from about 35 yards out.

MATCH NOTES

  • Freshman Alex Moore (Portland, Ore./Glencoe) saw all 90 minutes of action in goal as she tallied four saves on seven shots on goal.

  • Cornish's helper is the her third of the season as she leads the squad in assists and is tied for third in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC).

UP NEXT

The Green and White will hit the road this weekend as it travels to Beaver Falls, Pa. to take on Geneva College, Saturday, Sept. 29. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. with the men's team following up at 11:30 a.m.
