Women's tennis posts shutout win versus Waynesburg, 9-0

BETHANY, W.Va. (Oct. 4) - The Bethany College women's tennis team earned its second win in-a-row with a 9-0 victory over Waynesburg Wednesday afternoon in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bethany pushed its winning-streak to two matches by winning at all nine positions versus the Yellow Jackets.
- Kristin Schafbuch (Marpingen, Germany/Arnold Janssen) and Alyssa Smydo (Scenery Hill, Pa./Bentworth) earned an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
- Both went on to earn straight-set wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Schafbuch won her match 6-4, 6-1, while Smydo won identical 6-2 sets in her victory.
- Junior Emily Folk (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) and senior Gabrielle Berrios (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West) teamed up for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
- Both Folk and Berrios went on to take straight sets wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles to go 2-0 on the day.
- The team of freshman Dawson McHarg (Wilson, N.C./Fike) and junior Fran Capaldi (Steubenville, Ohio/Catholic Central) completed the shutout with an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles for the Bison
- McHarg won at No. 5 singles, while Capaldi claimed No. 6 singles in straight sets.
UP NEXT
- Bethany is on the road on Friday, October 6 when they head to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to take on La Roche in a non-conference match.
