GREENVILLE, Pa. (Oct. 9) - A trio of Bethany College student-athletes were honored with Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) weekly awards Monday afternoon announced the league office.

Bethany senior Sumayyah Muhammad (Warren, Ohio/Warren G. Harding) was named the PAC Volleyball Player of the Week, while women's tennis junior Kristin Schafbuch (Marpingen, Germany/Arnold Janssen) and men's soccer freshman Bernardo Vilchis (Mexico City, Mexico/Universidad del Valle) were each named PAC Rookie of the Week in their respective sport.

Muhammad helped the Bison record a 4-0 record against league opposition last week. In Wednesday's five-set win at W&J, she registered a career-high 20 kills to go along with seven blocks, five service aces and four digs. She finished the four-match stretch hitting .311 (52-14-122) with 18 blocks, 15 digs and 13 aces. The Bethany volleyball team sits in second place in the league standings and will look to extend their winning streak tomorrow, Tuesday, October 10 when they host Chatham at 7 p.m.

Schafbuch went 4-0 in No. 1 singles action last week, claiming each win in straight sets. Paired with senior senior Alyssa Smydo, the duo also put together a 2-2 mark in No. 1 doubles play. Schafbuch's and the rest of the Bison, who have recorded the most wins in a single-season since 2012, will host Thiel on Thursday, October 12 in the home-finale at 4 p.m.

Vilchis gave Bethany a 1-0 advantage over Thiel in last Wednesday's 1-1 draw, scoring in the 63rd minute. He has a pair of goals and an assist this season for the Bison who will host Waynesburg Wednesday night at Bison Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
